Throw away all common sense and tap into your madness as you follow Dr Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian – a London-based artist and educator of Armenian and Algerian descent – on a fascinating journey to build a new civilisation on the moon. Along with her doppelgängers, Myriam and Lucia, Nelly challenges us to defy power structures and reject planetary exploitation by letting go of the constraints of borders, gender, and religion to embrace what diversity could be in the vast landscape of our imaginations.

Prior to their mission, Nelly and her parallel version of self speak with a wide-ranging collection of experts. There’s an LGBTQ+ rights activist, an astronomer, a political scientist, an archaeologist who also makes wine, a theoretical physicist, an environmental designer, a horror filmmaker, and a mathematical economist. They are all crucial to their quest to uncover the key to a queer, eco-feminist future devoid of generational trauma, colonisation, and imperialism. However, as the analogue space mission takes unexpected turns, the future remains as uncertain as the condition of Schrödinger’s Cat.

Qais must flee his home Afghanistan after his collaboration as an interpreter for the German army draws a target on his back. As he tries to build a new life in Germany, many colleagues and their families are left behind. Exiled and stricken with survivor’s guilt, he attempts to facilitate their evacuation – and arrival in a not necessarily welcoming society.

The iconic archive of renowned Belgian photographer Herman Selleslags lies hidden behind the walls of his majestic but run-down mansion. An overwhelming collection unravels the story of an extraordinary photographer who has managed to sketch an exciting musical and social era, spanning more than 70 years. The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Edith Piaf, film stars, artists, and sports heroes – all the big names shared intimate moments in front of his camera. While some made the front page, many of these unique pictures have never seen the light of day. Now they are all collecting dust, piled up to the ceilings.

The archive also includes the photographic heritage left by Herman’s father and the work by his son Jan. Thousands of prints conceal a complex, dual father-son relationship that has marked this family of photographers. Life Will Give You Pictures is a journey through Herman’s memories and thoughts. Wandering and rumbling from crunching floor to floor, life and work pass by. Behind the walls, melancholia, history, and the eternal struggle between fathers and sons come together.
