While we may already agree that festivals are important sites of meaning making, is it time to question whether categorising films as fiction or documentary is an outdated notion? Could it be that the best current documentaries are influenced by fiction and that the best fiction films are heavily informed by reality? Documentaries keep winning prestigious prizes, but are often relegated to the poorest distribution possibilities. What does it all mean in a time of (post) truth. Let’s debate the binary; is it still relevant to us?
