Kollage von Filmstills, die im Stream verfügbar sind

DOK Leipzig is showing selected films online throughout Germany during the festival week. A new film or a short film reel will be available via the festival website’s DOK Stream function every day from 29 October to 3 November. These titles will be available for 24 hours, from midnight to midnight.

On Tuesday, 29 October, anyone who can’t make it to to Leipzig for the premier of “Flowers of Ukraine” by Adelina Borets will be able to watch online. This warm, life-affirming portrait is part of our International Documentary Film Competition and follows a woman living in Kyiv who farms a small plot, even in war.

On Wednesday, 30 October, watch “Balomania” by Sissel Morell Dargis. This film from our Doc Alliance Award section tells the incredible story of the “Baloeiros”, an underground culture in the heart of Brazil's favelas, in which giant hot air balloons are made in secret.

In “Barbara Morgenstern—Doing It for Love” by Sabine Herpich, available online on Thursday, 31 October, viewers get an intimate view of the electronic living room pop pioneer’s creative process as she works on a new album. This documentary is screening in the German Competition.

“Blueberry Dreams” by Elene Mikaberidze, an Audience Competition film showing online on Friday, 1 November, portrays a family struggling with their blueberry harvest in the mountains of Georgia. At the same time, current crisis flare ups bring back memories of the Russo-Georgian War–-and worries about their children’s future.

On Saturday, 2 November, “Pelikan Blue” by László Csáki, a long animated film from the International Competition, will be screened online. In this gangster comedy, three friends in Hungary forge train tickets shortly after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc to travel to the West, sparking a business idea that rapidly expands.

Finally, a compilation of six documentary and animated short films will wrap up the festival week via DOK Stream on Sunday, 3 November.

Each of the films in the online program will be available on its respective day from 00:01 to 23:59. Viewers can find them in video-on-demand format via an embedded player directly on the respective film pages at dok-leipzig.de.

Online ticket sales start on 25 October. Each showing is 5 €.
