We present: Our opening film 2024

“We all think we know what light is. But if we take a closer look, we realise that we don’t,” the film “Tracing Light” tells us. We open DOK Leipzig 2024 with the world premiere of this latest film by Thomas Riedelsheimer.

In “Tracing Light”, co-produced by ZDF/3sat, Riedelsheimer explores the phenomenon of light, creating a dialogue between two disciplines – art and physics.

Between super slow motion, laser table football, “firestacks” and quantum theory, international scientists and artists aim to find out: What kind of a material is light? How do photons behave? How do we perceive the world around us – and through what means?

Our opening event takes place Monday, 28 October 2024, 19:00 in CineStar 8.

After the festival opening, “Tracing Light” runs three more times throughout the festival week in public cinemas. We publish our programme including all screening times on 10 October. Ticket sales start simultaneously.
