Travelling by Train

Long-distance trains from Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Erfurt among other cities arrive at the Leipzig Central Train Station (Leipzig Hauptbahnhof), which is located in the city centre.

The Festival Centre is at Museum of Fine Arts MdbK Leipzig (Katharinenstraße 10). It is within 5 minutes walking distance of the Leipzig Central Train Station as well as cinemas, partner hotels and festival venues.

By Plane

From Airport Leipzig/Halle

The local trains, S-Bahn 5 and S-Bahn 5X operate between 4 am and 1 am from Leipzig/Halle Airport to Leipzig Central Train Station and Leipzig city centre (Markt/Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz). They run every 30 minutes with an approximate travel time of 15 minutes.

You can purchase your ticket from the ticket vending machine at the station.

By Taxi/Shuttle the travel time is ca. 30 minutes (depending on traffic).

From Berlin Airport (BER)

After your arrival, you can take public transportation to Berlin Central Train Station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof) or Berlin Südkreuz Station. The journey duration varies between 20-50 minutes depending on airport and means of travel.

We advise our guests arriving at Berlin Tegel Airport to take their long-distance trains from Berlin Central Train Station, and at Berlin Schönefeld Airport from either Berlin Central Train Station or Berlin Südkreuz Station, depending on travel duration and means of travel.

Long distance trains (ICE or IC) depart regularly to Leipzig from either Südkreuz Station or Berlin Central Train Station, with an approximate travel time of one hour and fifteen minutes.

Tickets can be bought at the station or online.

By Car

You can reach Leipzig city centre via the autobahns A9 (Berlin-München), A14 (Magdeburg-Dresden) and A38 (Göttingen-Leipzig).

A9 from Munich

When travelling from Munich on the A9, take the A38 at “Kreuz Rippachtal” towards “Leipzig-Süd/Dresden”. Then take the exit “Leipzig-Süd” and follow the B2 highway towards “Zentrum”.

Alternatively: A9 from Munich

On the A9 take exit “Leipzig West” and follow B181 highway towards “Zentrum” for about 30 minutes to the city centre.

From Berlin

When coming from Berlin on the A9, take the A14 and follow the sign towards “Leipzig”. Take the exit “Leipzig Mitte” and follow B2 for about 15 minutes towards “Zentrum”.

From Dresden

Take the A14 towards Magdeburg. After taking the exit “Leipzig-Ost” follow the B6 highway for about 20-25 minutes towards “Zentrum”.

Parking

Parking houses are located next to the Leipzig Central Train Station (“Parkhaus Promenaden Hauptbahnhof West”), at Höfe am Brühl (“Parkhaus Höfe am Brühl”, Am Hallischen Tor 2) or at Augustusplatz. Parking charges apply depending on the parking spot.
