DOK Neuland
Since 2015, DOK Neuland has provided an exhibition platform for Extended Reality and Expanded Filmmaking projects. Each year we invite our audience to discover around 10 international pieces here.
This experience is made possible by technologically advanced new media such as virtual reality, augmented reality or 360° films, all with bold narratives that tap into the revolutionary potential that unfolds when art and technology collide. By taking advantage of the possibilities presented by new media, selected artists break with familiar story lines, expand the boundaries of our reality and, together with visitors, explore the interaction between humans and machines to create new realms of experience.

We look forward to discovering your creative immersive XR contributions for DOK Neuland, taking place during DOK Leipzig from 27 October to 2 November 2025.
What Are We Looking for?
XR works that question conventional narrative forms and open up new audio-visual experiences – be it through virtual reality, mixed reality or augmented reality experiences, 360° films, performances, media or web-based art, sound installations, projection mapping or looped films, participatory films, games or hybrid performances. Or you surprise us with new XR formats we may not even be aware of yet.
Do you have an idea for a special project such as a site-specific XR installation or hybrid performance for a stage? Send it over. We are very happy to work together with artists to facilitate their vision and showcase new ways of working outside the traditional frame.
How to Submit?
You can submit your XR works until 1 July directly through an entry form on our website. Please login to your myDOK account or register for a new account if you haven’t got one until now. Once you are logged in, you can access the submission form.
Before starting the submission process, please read the XR submission guidelines. DOK Neuland has no premiere requirements nor submission fees.
Fluxusopolis
Welcome to Fluxusopolis, the city of change, where nothing ever stays the same. Buildings go up, shops shut down, people come and go. At this year’s DOK Leipzig Extended Reality exhibition, we take a moment to observe change as it happens. Because the projects working in Fluxusopolis cannot stand still. Each one, in its unique way, pokes at stagnation. This year’s programme showcases films and experiences with no known beginning or end, and projects that constantly evolve: experiences which fly with birds and flow under the sea, which bring transformation to centre stage, and which turn the world as we know it upside down. There are installations and 360° films, augmented reality experiences and games, all of which relate to the constant flow of life, through grief and through joy. This year we will also show “Traces of Responsibility” as a DOK Neuland Interactive Cinema special. This participatory film puts the editorial power in the hands of the audience, who democratically decide which scene comes next.
In line with its nature, Fluxusopolis is decentralised, spread out around the city, with a path leading from the centre to the south of Leipzig. Each of the four locations stands as a pillar of the exhibition as a whole. At the Cinémathèque, “Tales of a Nomadic City” ask us to reconsider familiar concepts, such as what makes a city. The projects at the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig play with the physics of it all, shifting our relationship with motion and scale. At the Galerie KUB, through “Nothing Can Ever Be the Same”, we learn to play with new partners, such as machines, who will teach us to change the way we see and think. At the Hauptbahnhof, we will encounter projects where all are welcome; projects which inspire a pluralist environment and a colourful future.
